US Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle highlights ties with Greek Orthodox Church

US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle spoke about the ties she has developed with the Greek Orthodox Church and described her visit to the Holy Convent of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Ormylia, Halkidiki, as one of the most powerful experiences of her life.
In an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), Guilfoyle reflected on her visit to the convent and the “Panagia Philanthropini” Medical Center.
“It was one of the most powerful and moving experiences I have had, not only in Greece but in my life in general,” she said, while also speaking about the importance of faith in her own life.
The US Ambassador noted that she was educated by the Sisters of Mercy and is a member of the Roman Catholic Church, describing herself as deeply religious.
Guilfoyle also highlighted the prominent place of faith in Greek society and spoke warmly about the relationships she has developed with the Orthodox Church during her tenure in Greece.
“I feel very honored to serve in a country where religion and faith hold such an important place in people’s lives,” she said.
