The synodal tomos proclaiming the canonization of the Holy Lady Maria Brâncoveanu, presented on Sunday at the "St. Gheorghe" Church - Nou in the Capital.

THE HOLY SYNOD OF THE ROMANIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

To the Reverend Clergy, the Reverend Monk and the beloved faithful laymen of the Romanian Patriarchate,

Grace, peace and joy from God, and from Us, bishop's blessings!

It is proper and worthy of all praise to honor the memory of those who have accomplished themselves in holiness, who have gained boldness from God because of their virtuous life, testifying to Christ, through their deeds and words, in times of persecution. About them, our Lord Jesus Christ tells us that, since they listened to His word, they became "His friends" (John 15, 14).

By their sacrifice they became like the Bridegroom Christ, obeying His word which says: "If the world hates you, know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." (John 15, 18-19).

Honoring those who shone through their holy lives and became guides through deeds...
