It’s good that the Patriarch himself came to the Lavra the day before. The Akathist to Sergius is always read especially sincerely there, in the Assumption Cathedral. In our choir we are also preparing chants for the altar service, we are already rehearsing.

It’s good that the Patriarch arrived just the day before; the Lavra always feels special concentration before the holiday. In Samara, we also started preparing hymns for the altar service, but rehearsals are still going on with hesitations - my daughter sometimes helps me hold the notes. What choir do you sing in, Ekaterina?

It’s good that the day before, yes, it was really quieter and more prayerful in the Lavra then. We also rehearse in the Trinity Cathedral in Krasnodar, but more on weekday evenings so that people can get home from work in time. Does your daughter, Nadezhda, already sing in the choir or is she just holding notes out of curiosity?

In our church at the Arskoe cemetery in Kazan we also rehearse for the altar ceremony, but on Saturday afternoons, when there is less fuss. Nadezhda’s daughter is probably already grown up, since she can hold notes - my youngest at her age only read the psalter syllable by syllable. What kind of choir do you sing in, the bishop's or the parish?

Thank you, Sophia, I definitely noticed that the day before it was really calmer in the Lavra, without the daytime crowd. In our church in Nizhny, we also try to schedule rehearsals on weekdays so that people can do it after work. And Nadezhda’s daughter, by the way, has been singing in the choir for the second year now; she has a little voice and doesn’t just hold notes. Do you have a large choir in Krasnodar?
