The priest consecrated a worship cross in the village of Kotytranslated

July 23, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 19, 2026, the rector of the church in honor of the image of the Most Holy Theotokos “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in the village of Kevly, Smorgon region, Priest Pavel Kutko, performed the rite of consecration and consecrated the newly erected worship Cross in the village of Koty.

Local residents gathered together with the priest to pray and share common joy with each other at the cross.

At the end of the consecration, Father John addressed those gathered with a pastoral word, in which he spoke about the meaning of the cross in the life of a Christian, and gave a blessing.

I am glad that there is now a new worship cross in Koty. Father Paul spoke well about its meaning, especially about how the cross helps in everyday life. Thank you for the locals coming together, it always warms us up.

Nice to see Father Pavel out there doing the blessing in Koty. The part about the cross helping in everyday life stuck with me too, especially when things feel heavy at work. Glad the locals turned up.

It’s good that Father Pavel came to Koty and did everything according to order. I remember how he spoke about the cross in everyday life - when there is a blockage at work or worries at home, it really helps to stop and pray. Well done locals for getting together, without this no cross will come to life.

I agree, Violetta, Father Pavel explained really well how the cross helps in daily cares - especially for us who are in the countryside and often face difficulties. It's good that people gathered, I personally remembered how years ago we lit a cross near Varna. And are you from Koty or just passing by?

Father Pavel did a solid job explaining how the cross helps when work piles up or home gets overwhelming — that part hit home. Good to see the folks in Koty turn out for it; without them it's just wood in a field. Emil, you mentioned blessing one near Varna years ago — was that a similar village cross?

I agree with you, Violetta, especially about how Father Pavel connected the cross to our daily concerns - I often think of this myself when I bake bread for the children. It is good that people gather at such events instead of staying at home. Do you go to Koty often or are you from the surrounding area?

Rositsa, I also often think of the cross while driving on the road to Varna and I see how people are in a hurry. It is good that Father Pavel connected it with daily cares - otherwise we easily forget. Are you from Kevli or do you just go to such events?
