Good that Father Dmitry went to the school on that day. Remembering Beslan and what that boy Sasha shouted is important for the kids – my own children were about that age when it happened. Hope the lesson stuck with them.

Good point about the kids' age, Timothy – my nephew was in year 6 around that time and it hit him hard when we talked about it later. Father Dmitry picking that exact day to visit Kostrovo school makes sense; hope the lesson on courage and faith stayed with them too. Did your children ever mention Beslan at home?

Yeah, that timing with the solidarity day was well chosen. My daughter was about the same age when we first talked about Beslan at home after church one evening; she mostly asked why the terrorists picked a school. Did your nephew ever bring it up again later on?

Yes, remembering what that lad Sasha shouted takes real courage, especially at that age. My younger son was nine when Beslan happened and he still talks about it sometimes after Sunday school. Did your children ever ask Father Dmitry any questions when he came round the parish?

Yeah, the timing makes sense for a lesson like that. My youngest grandson was around that age too when we watched a short documentary together after liturgy; he kept asking why anyone would target kids on their first day back. Did your daughter ever settle on an answer that helped her?
