Samara schoolchildren learned about the traditions of celebrating name daystranslated

The house church in the name of the Apostle John the Theologian and the Ladies of Culture of the village of Chekalino, Samara Region, organized an interactive trip “Such a difficult name day, or the story of one feat” for primary school students. Schoolchildren heard how the first Christians lived in the 2nd century and why they suffered persecution. Since the meeting took place on September 30, special attention was paid to the lives of the martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother Sophia.

As reported on the parish page on the social network VKontakte, the children learned what traditions of celebrating name days used to exist in Rus'. Everyone was able to take part in a competition to guess proverbs about name days. The children were told that every Christian on his name day strove to serve his neighbor, doing a work of mercy with all his heart. Without departing from tradition, schoolchildren wrote letters and drew drawings for the military personnel who are currently performing feats of arms in the zone of a special military operation.

The event ended with a tea party with a real birthday cake, and all the guests went home with a small sweet gift.
