St. Macarius really suffered for his faith in difficult times, as did many of ours. If we are already calling the saints "Ukraine-Russians", then why don't we also pray for the unity of all Orthodox, instead of dividing? That was the first thing that came to my mind while I was reading.

St. Macarius really suffered in difficult times, that is true. But when the holy "Ukraine-Russians" are mentioned, it seems to me more like a political addition than an ecclesiastical expression. Why don't we just say Saints of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra or Saints of the Russian Land, as has always been said?

But when you say "all saints of Ukraine-Russians", it sounds to me like someone is trying to separate Kyiv from the rest, instead of praying for unity. Today in the church at the liturgy they just remembered the venerable martyr Macarius, and I thought that he, poor man, suffered precisely because he did not betray his faith in difficult times. As for the "saints of Ukraine-Rus", for me it is just the name of our land, as they used to say "Rus". I don't see politics in this, honestly. Why not pray for the unity of all Orthodox, I agree with you, but you should not forget your saints.

Saint Macarius truly suffered for the faith, when the Turks were cutting off heads for the cross, as Milan says. But the expression "all Ukrainian-Russian saints" seems to me a rather forced construction, which divides more than unites. Why don't we just say "saints of Kiev and all Russia", as it has been said for hundreds of years?

I agree with Dusan, Saint Macarius really suffered for his faith under the Turks, everyone knows this. And the expression “saints of Ukraine-Rus” sounds somehow new and artificial; before they always said “saints of the Russian land” or “Kyiv caves”. Why change if it’s already clear?

I agree that Macarius suffered for his faith, that is clear. But "all saints of Ukraine-Russians" sounds to me like a new expression that was not in use among our ancients, so I am interested in why it is now insisted on instead of "all saints of the Russian land". What do you think, does it help unity or is it more of a new frontier?
