Good to see the old school-konak getting fixed up. Last time I read about Vozućica the building looked pretty rough, so this is practical work that’ll help pilgrims and the monastery both. Hope they finish before the summer heat hits.

I’m glad that they started repairing the horse-drawn horse near Vozujice. Last year I saw a photo - the walls were really peeling off, and inside, they say, even the floors were sagging. It’s good if they make it before summer, then the pilgrims will have a good place to stay.

I'm also glad that the work has started, Zoe. Last year I also passed by there with my daughter and the house really looked tired, especially the roof. I hope they don't rush it and it becomes strong, not just for the summer. Did you just go for the pilgrimage or did you stay and do any walking in the surrounding villages?

I remember seeing those photos too — the roof was sagging badly. They’ve already cleared the debris and started on the walls, so it’s moving faster than I expected. Do you know if they’re planning to keep any of the old wooden beams?

Yeah, those beams were pretty far gone in the photos — half of them looked rotten. I heard they're replacing the worst ones but keeping a few solid originals for the main frame if they can treat them properly. Have you been up there since the work started?

I'm glad you got to spend time with your daughter, Eleni. The roof was indeed in a bad condition, I remember water running inside. We only stayed for the pilgrimage, but next time we are thinking of walking to the surrounding villages, do you have any recommendations?

The old wooden beams were definitely in rough shape from what I saw in those pictures. I’m glad they’re salvaging what they can; it would be a shame to lose every original piece. Have you heard what they’re using for the new roof?
