On August 11–12, 2026, parishioners of the Church of the Georgian Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Gomel made a two-day pilgrimage trip. The route passed through Zhirovichi, Synkovichi, Slonim and Nesvizh.

One of the main points of the pilgrimage route was the Holy Dormition Zhirovichi Monastery. For several centuries, the history of the monastery has been associated with the veneration of the Zhirovichi Icon of the Mother of God. Pilgrims prayed before the Zhirovichi image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, visited the monastery’s churches and learned about its shrines and spiritual tradition.

In the village of Synkovichi, the trip participants visited the Church of the Archangel Michael, a monument of Belarusian church architecture. The pilgrims were told about the history of the church and the features of its architectural design.

In Slonim, the route included a visit to the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity. Then the pilgrims went to Nesvizh, where they got acquainted with the historical and architectural monuments of the city.

The two days of the trip included joint prayer, visiting Orthodox shrines, and learning about the church history of Belarus.

Nice trip. The stop at the Zhirovichi monastery sounds like the highlight — praying in front of the actual Zhirovichi icon must have been special. Did the group get to stay for a service there or just a quick visit?
