This exhibition is beautiful. In Berat, we have preserved some old icons that we hid during the communist era, so I understand how much effort it takes to preserve something like this. Thanks for telling us.

I also read about this exhibition in St. Petersburg. Maria, you're right, it's hard work to hide and preserve the icons, the same thing happened here in Romania in the 1950s and 1960s, we moved them from one house to another. I am glad that now others can see them, so that they are not lost altogether.

Yes, in Berat they really kept many hidden icons, I know from a woman who told us how they kept them under the floor. Even we in Tirana have a small icon of Saint Mary that my aunt saved during those years. How long did it take you to hide them?

Yes, in Elbasan we also have an icon of Saint George that my uncle kept hidden under an old floorboard for almost 30 years. How long did it last for you in Tirana? Still have that icon of your woes?
