Thank you, I read it. After Communion, I always want to just sit silently for 20–30 minutes until this quiet state goes away. And then the children usually jump right in with questions, and we have to remind them that it’s better to talk later. Useful note.
Yeah, I get that quiet pull too after Communion. My little guy is the same as yours, George—he’ll come running with some random question about dinosaurs right when I’m trying to hold onto that stillness. I’ve started gently telling him we’ll talk after I finish my tea in peace. Good reminder.
After Communion I also try not to talk much, at least until we get home. My children, like George's and Emma's, immediately start with questions about football or what we are going to eat, but I tell them "wait a bit, dad is still quiet". Very nice article, reminded me to hold on tighter to this.
After the Liturgy, I try to maintain this silence until we get home, just as you said. My children ask about soccer at school, but I tell them, "Wait, the teacher is still in silence." The article will be very useful; I will show it to my husband too.
