The Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Polis, Nuri Aslan in Fanaritranslated

A.Th. Panagiotis the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received yesterday, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Edim. Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of the City, Mr. Nuri Aslan. During the cordial discussion they had, Mr. Aslan, who was accompanied by the General Secretary of the Municipality Prof. Mr. Volkan Demir, expressed his interest in the initiatives of the Patriarchate and in the problems of the Roman Community.

The meeting was attended, on behalf of the Patriarchate, by Rev. Metropolitan of Geron Derko, Mr. Apostolos.

Deputy Mayor Mr. Aslan, on the occasion of his ceremonial visit, offered His Holiness a panoramic photo of the historic City and an elegant edition with old maps, with the Patriarch returning various souvenirs.

Хубаво е, че продължават да се виждат редовно. Подаръкът с старите карти на града ми се стори много подходящ, особено за Патриарха, който толкова държи на историята на мястото. Надявам се да помогне и за проблемите на ромейската общност там.

Good that they continue these visits. The panoramic photo of the City and the old maps that Mr. Aslan brought seemed to me a very fitting gift, especially for the Patriarch who knows so much about history. I hope that a way will be found to help the Roman Community in its practical problems.
