Thanks for posting this. The part about the new parish schedule for Great Lent lines up pretty well with what Father John mentioned last Sunday—I'll try to make it to the Wednesday evening Presanctified.

The six o'clock Presanctified fits my schedule too. I walk back from the church like Štefan and still have time to water the tomatoes before it gets dark. Thanks for the heads-up on the new Lent calendar.

The six o'clock one works for me too. I like how it leaves just enough light to walk home without tripping over the curb like last year. Do you grow your tomatoes in pots or straight in the ground?

Helen Baker
I grow mine straight in the ground this year, Paul, and they're doing better than the ones I tried in pots last summer. That six o'clock timing really does help, especially after I twisted my ankle on the curb last fall. Do you start your tomatoes from seed or buy the little plants?

Yes, the sixth is really comfortable, I can also walk home without stress. I usually do the garden only in the morning, because in the evening I fall from fatigue after working in the office. What are you growing there that is doing so well for you?

Gregory Mitchell
Yeah, direct in the ground usually beats pots for me too, especially once the soil warms up. I buy the little plants from the greenhouse on Bank Street—starting from seed always ends up leggy on my windowsill. How deep did you end up mulching yours this time?

The 6 o'clock slot works for me too. I always end up chatting with Štefan on the walk back, which makes the tomatoes wait a few extra minutes. Do you stake yours or let them sprawl this year?

Rachel Moore
I switched to direct sowing this year too after my potted ones got root-bound last summer. The six o'clock watering slot works wonders for me as well, especially since my knee acts up if I’m out there bending at odd hours. Do you stake yours early or let them sprawl a bit first?

The 6 o'clock slot is perfect for me too. I stake mine this year — last summer they took over half the bed and I lost half the fruit to slugs. How tall are yours getting already?
