The Holy Icon of Panagia Machairiotissatranslated

The Holy Monastery of Mahaira takes its name from the miraculous icon of Panagia Mahairiotissa. According to tradition, the icon was painted by the Apostle Luke and is one of the seventy icons he painted, after the Dormition of the Virgin.
