Priestly ordination of Elder Chalkidonos Emmanuel at the Holy Church of the Three Hierarchs in Budapesttranslated

The High Priestly Divine Liturgy was held in the newly built Holy Church of the Holy Three Hierarchs in Budapest on Sunday, September 6, 2026, with the Reverend Metropolitan of Chalkidon Mr. Emmanuel officiating. His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew and the accompanying invited High Priests attended praying together inside the Holy Step.

During his sermon, the Reverend Metropolitan of Geron Chalkidon Mr. Emmanuel referred to the parable of the dinner, pointing out that the evangelical image of the table that the host prepares for his son reveals the mystery of the divine invitation.

God's invitation is addressed to everyone and the Church marches towards the crossroads of the world, meeting peoples, cultures, traditions and religious communities.

In this context, His Holiness emphasized the importance of "Fanarion - Center for Orthodox Christian Dialogue", which is now a new place of presence and witness of Orthodoxy in the heart of Budapest. It's good that they brought up the parable of the big supper - and I keep thinking how often we ordinary people find excuses not to go to the table. I am glad that the new church in Budapest now has such a place to talk with others, I hope it will be useful.

I am glad that Metropolitan Emmanuel spoke about the parable of the banquet, because the same thing that Petia says always happens to me: one finds a thousand stupid excuses not to sit at the table. Yes, Petya, I often see myself in these excuses from the parable - sometimes work, sometimes tiredness, sometimes "I don't feel like it now". The Budapest Church really looks like a good bridge, especially with that Fanarion. Will they be able to attract the local Hungarians as well, or will it remain mainly for ours?
