Doxology at the Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas for the celebration of Armed Forces Daytranslated

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the official celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Cyprus took place, with a eulogy at the Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas, during which the Bishop of Karpasia, Mr. Christoforos, officiated.  The celebration was attended by the Minister of Defense Mr. Vassilis Palmas, Members of Parliament, the Chief of the National Guard, Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Theodorou, the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Mr. Stelios Kountouris, as well as the Hierarchy of the National Guard.

Also present were representatives of state services and local authorities, as well as retired Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers who served in the National Guard.

Thank you for this article. I noted that Mgr Christophore presided over the doxology in Saint-Barnabé Cathedral and that we read the agenda of the head of the National Guard. It’s always moving to see former retired officers come back for this day.
