On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 5, the Great Solemn Vespers was held on the Despotic feast of the Transfiguration of the Savior, in the celebratory Holy Parish Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Pyrgos Thiras. The holy service was officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thira, Amorgos and the Islands, Mr. Amfilochios.

In his sermon, His Holiness referred to the theological content of the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, stressing that the event on Mount Tabor is not just a miraculous revelation of Christ's divine glory to the three disciples, but an invitation to every person to transform his life through the grace of God.
