Today, the Church honors the memory of the Hieromartyr Bishops Anthimos Nikomedeias (†302), Saint Phoebe, Aristion of Alexandria and the Neomartyr Polydorus of Cyprus (†1794), who was born in the 18th century in Nicosia within the walls, parish of Archangel Michael of Trypiotis.

Saint Phoebe: The fervent Deaconess of Corinth In the ancient church, the institution of deaconesses had been established early on. This is the first social recognition of women in history. For the first time in Christianity, the woman is acknowledged as a human person and emerges as equal to the man, having the right to undertake public functions. Saint Phoebe from Corinth is one of the famous deaconesses of the ancient Church. One of the most likeable female figures of the New Testament.

Amintesc că și la noi, în Timișoara, femeile din corul bisericii fac o treabă asemănătoare cu a Sfintei Foibe – ajută la Sfânta Liturghie, pregătesc prosforă și se ocupă de nevoile enoriașilor. E frumos că textul amintește că ea a fost prima care a primit un fel de slujire publică în Biserică, nu doar treabă ascunsă în casă. Mulțumesc pentru articol, domnule profesor.
