Trisagio in memory of Archon Ioannis Mitrakas was performed by Anthimos of Alexandroupolistranslated

In an atmosphere of emotion, at noon on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, by the Metropolitan of Alexandroupoli, Mr. Anthimos, a trisayo for the repose of the soul of the late Ioannis Mitrakas, was held at the premises of the "Ioannis Mitrakas" Gallery of Post-Neo-Byzantine Visual Arts, on Bouboulinas Street 12 in Alexandroupoli. The great creator fell asleep at the age of 90, in the early hours of Sunday, July 5, in Athens, leaving behind an invaluable legacy of intellectual, artistic and cultural work. Ioannis Mitrakas was a distinguished painter and Chief Hagiographer of the Holy Great Church of Christ of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, having dedicated his entire life to the ministry of art, the Orthodox faith and the defense of our cultural heritage.

The ceremony was a minimal tribute and gratitude to an enlightened man and a tireless worker of art. May his memory be eternal. I didn't know he lived to 90 and passed just two days before the Trisagion. That gallery on Boumboulinas Street always felt special — nice to see the Metropolitan honor him right there in the space he gave the city.

Память его вечная. Жаль, что в 90 лет ушёл, но хорошо, что митрополит Анфим отслужил трисагий прямо в его галерее на Бумбулинас, 12 — там, где всё его наследие осталось. Хороший был мастер, икона его работы в нашем храме до сих пор стоит.

Борисе, радвам се, че я пазите толкова добре в „Св. Георги“. Аз я видях за пръв път точно на освещаването на храма през 1998 г., когато я донесе – тогава още бях ученичка и ми направи впечатление колко живи са цветовете. Ти помниш ли какво точно каза тогава за техниката ѝ?

Да, Петя, помня го. Тогава каза, че е рисувана с традиционната яйчена темпера и че цветовете остават ярки точно защото не използва модерни бои. Аз също я виждам често в „Св. Георги“ – стои си все така жива и след толкова години. Ти откъде я познаваш толкова добре?
