Corinthous Pavlos made a trisaio for the blessed Philippi Procopiustranslated

July 9, 2026 · 1 min read

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the day on which the Church honors the memory of the Holy Glorious Great Martyr Procopius, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corinth, Mr. Pavlos, after the end of the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Chapel of Agia Photini the Samaritida in Corinth, celebrated Trisagio for the repose of the soul of his late spiritual father of the blessed Metropolitan of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos Kyros Prokopios (Tsakoumakas). The late Mr. Prokopios held a special place in the heart of Reverend Mr. Pavlos, as he was his spiritual father and guide, contributing decisively to the course of his priestly and ecclesiastical ministry.

Early in the afternoon of the same day, His Eminence went to the 1st Cemetery of Corinth, where he performed the Holy Trisagion on the grave of his late predecessor, Metropolitan of Corinth Mr. Prokopius (Tzavara), honoring the memory of the blessed Hierarch, who served with zeal and self-denial in the Apostolic Shrine Metropolis of Corinth.

May his memory be eternal. It’s nice to see Metropolitan Paul honoring both his spiritual father, the late Prokopios of Philippi, and his predecessor here in Corinth on the same saint’s day. Two Trisagia in one afternoon shows real gratitude.

I agree, Emma. It’s touching how Metropolitan Paul chose the feast of St. Prokopios to remember both men who bore that name. The cemetery visit must have felt especially full-circle for him.

Yeah, doing both Trisagia on St Prokopios’ day feels right. Nice that he honoured his spiritual father first after the Liturgy, then went straight to the old bishop’s grave at the A’ Cemetery in Corinth. Memory eternal for both of them.

Yeah, doing both Trisagia right on St. Prokopios’ feast day ties everything together nicely. I noticed he honored his spiritual father first after Liturgy at the chapel of St. Photini, then drove over to the A’ Cemetery for his predecessor—two bishops with the same name as the saint. Memory eternal for both.

It struck me that both bishops shared the name Prokopios with the saint whose feast it was. Nice that Metropolitan Paul did the Trisagion for his spiritual father right after Liturgy at St Photini’s chapel, then went straight to the A’ Cemetery for his predecessor. Memory eternal for both.

Yeah, the timing on St. Prokopios’ day really ties it together nicely. I didn’t know the first Prokopios had been his spiritual father; that makes the morning Trisagion feel even more personal. Memory eternal to both.

Yes, the timing on St. Prokopios’ day really ties the two hierarchs together nicely. I remember old Bishop Prokopios of Corinth from when I visited years ago; he was a tireless man, always out in the villages. Did the article mention where Metropolitan Paul’s spiritual father originally came from?

Yes, the shared name with St Prokopios on his feast day really stood out. I liked how Metropolitan Paul went from the Liturgy at St Photini’s straight to the cemetery – it felt like one continuous act of remembrance. Memory eternal for both.
