The Metropolitan of Thessaliotis on the motherly relationship of the Virgin Mary with all peopletranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaliotidos and Phanariofersalon, Mr. Timotheus officiated on the evening of Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Vespers and the Holy Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin T.K. Stefaniados.

In the oppressive atmosphere of the days of the Fifteenth of August, the faithful participated in the Holy Mass and turned with faith and hope to the face of the Virgin Mary, as the Church is heading towards the supreme theological feast of the Dormition and its glorious Transfiguration.

This year I was able to go to the chapel only once due to shifts at the hospital, but when I heard the words of the Metropolitan about "Summer Easter" it became clear to me why so many people are gathering right now. We don't mourn death, but we see it as falling asleep and moving on - that's the most beautiful of all to me. Blessed be Bishop Timaeus for such simple words.

Yes, the phrase "Summer Easter" stuck in my mind too. This year I went to the evening service at the neighborhood church and that's exactly what I felt - it's not a funeral, but a peaceful falling asleep, as if the Mother of God is moving home. Metropolitan Timotei said it beautifully, especially since we Romanians always say "falling asleep", not "death". Glory to God.
