Sanctification at the T.E.F.A.A. Department for the start of the new academic yeartranslated

Today, Monday, September 28, 2026, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Maroneia, Mr. Panteleimon, performed the Consecration at the beginning of the classes of the new Academic year 2026-2027, in the "Georgios Papadriellis" Amphitheater of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science (TEFAA), of the School of Science of Physical Education, Sports and Occupational Therapy of the Democritus University of Thrace, in the presence of the University Administration, the Dean, the President, the Professors and Students of the School. He sincerely wished all the Professors and Students a good academic year with health, progress and every success in the noble goals they set in their lives.

I am glad that they made the consecration of the altar at the beginning of the academic year, especially in a department with sports and physical activity. It is beautiful that Metropolitan Panteleimon came personally to bless health and success to the students. At our church in Bucharest last year, we had the consecration of the school where I teach, which helped everything to start more peacefully.

I am glad that they made an agyasma right in TEFAA - sports and movement, there the blessing goes very well. Metropolitan Panteleimon did a good job by coming in person and wishing the students health and success. Here in Burgas, we also do agyasma at the beginning of the school year, but I have never seen it in a university hall.

It's nice they held the Agiasmos right in the amphitheater for the sports science department—blessing the bodies and the books at the same time makes sense. Metropolitan Panteleimon coming in person and wishing them health and progress is the kind of steady start every student needs. We did something similar at our parish school last fall and the kids still talk about it.
