Ordination of Monk Arsenios to the Diakonon by Metropolitan Thessaliotidostranslated

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaly, Mr. Timotheus, officiated at the procession of Orthros and celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Evangelistria, Karditsa. During the Divine Liturgy, he performed the Deacon ordination of the Osiologiot Monk Arsenios Papathomas, Brother of the Holy Monastery of Agia Irini "Chrysovalandos" Katochori, Farsala.

In his speech, the Pastor first referred to the apostolic reading of the day and to the Second Letter of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians.

He was particularly impressed by the Apostle's love and concern for the Church of Corinth, which he had founded and for which he fought, as he was informed of the difficulties, disorder and divisions that had been created within it.

This second letter of the Apostle Paul, as he mentioned, reveals his anxiety to give the opportunity of return to those who remained attached to false teachers and caused divisions, but also to support and strengthen those who had already returned and been restored to their relationship with God and the society of people.

I’m happy for Father Arseny, he is now a deacon. It is interesting that Bishop Timoteos dwelled in such detail on the Second Epistle to the Corinthians - about the Apostle Paul’s concern for those who are entangled with false teachers. At our last meeting they also talked about how important it is not to leave a person in separation, but to patiently bring him back.

I'm glad for Father Arseny, he is now a deacon. While fishing with Father Sergius, we were just remembering how Paul in this second letter to the Corinthians does not abandon those who are entangled with false teachers, but pulls them back. Sophia, you’re right, at the last meeting they said the same thing - it’s important not to leave a person in discord.

I am also happy for Father Arsenie, now a deacon. I liked how Metropolitan Timothy linked the second letter to the Corinthians with the concern for those who have messed with the false teachers - just as you say, that we do not leave people alone. At last Sunday's service in our parish, the father spoke about the same thing, not to lose anyone from the community.
