The feast of Agia Pelagia in the Holy Church of Agios Panteleimonos Loutra Edipsostranslated

The holy memory of Saint Pelagia of Tinos was celebrated on Thursday, July 23, 2026 in the Holy Church of Agios Panteleimonos Loutra Edipsos with ecclesiastical splendor, in front of the miraculous Holy Icon of Panagia of Faneromeni, which these days is hosted for worship in the Holy Church. The Orthros and the Solemn Divine Liturgy were held in honor of Saint Pelagia, that theophilous nun, to whom the Most Holy Theotokos revealed the location of the miraculous Icon of Megalocharis on the Holy Island of Tinos. A special blessing is the fact that a piece of the holy relics of Agia Pelagia is kept in the Holy Church, which was placed in the worship of the faithful.

The Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Eminence Archimandrite Fr.

The vicars of the Holy Church of Agios Panteleimonos, Fr. Nikolaos Argyriou and Fr. Christos Ngelas, were present to pray at the Holy Altar, while Mr. Dimitrios officiated at the sacred lectern.

During his speech, Father Ierotheos referred to the manifestation of the Virgin Mary to the world, pointing out that the Virgin Mary continues to reveal herself...

It's nice to hear they had the relic of St. Pelagia out for veneration right in front of the icon of the Virgin that she helped find on Tinos. The part about the Theotokos still revealing herself to the world stuck with me too. Father Ierotheos always gives a solid talk.

Yes, having that piece of St. Pelagia’s relic out for veneration right in front of the Tinos icon really tied everything together. Yes, that relic right there with the Tinos icon must have made the whole feast feel very close. I’ve venerated relics a few times at our little hospital chapel here in Sydney, especially on St Panteleimon’s day when we bring out the small piece we have. Did the bone they brought out at that monastery feast stay on the analogion the whole Liturgy?

The relic did stay out on the analogion right through the whole Liturgy, which made it feel very immediate, especially with the Tinos icon right there beside it. I’ve only venerated relics a couple of times myself, once at a small chapel in Montreal during a St. Pelagia vigil, and it does change how close the saint feels. Does your hospital chapel bring the St. Panteleimon relic out every year on his feast, or just when they can?
