The feast of Saint John the Theologian in S.S.A.S.translated

On Saturday, September 26, the Pastor, Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, Mr. Philotheos, officiated at the Divine Liturgy on the feast of Saint John the Theologian at the Military Holy Chapel within the Military School of Officer Corps. With the Divine Liturgy, the celebrations of the 100 years of operation of the S.S.A.S. began.

The Holy Liturgy was attended by the Commanding Officer of the School, Brigadier General Mr. Matthias Savvidis, Officers, a delegation of students of the School and the political staff.

At the Divine Liturgy, the military chaplain Fr. Ioannis Karagiannis (Anchis - SI) and the deacon Fr. Nektarios Hatzimichael officiated, while the Byzantine dance of the School's students sang.

Before the dismissal, the Bishop preached the divine word and expressed his joy for his presence in the historical Military School of our city and his participation in the anniversary events of its 100 years of operation and contribution to our homeland.

Then, according to the program, everyone went to the parade ground, where the festive events took place, in the presence of the Commander of the Interdisciplinary Academic Education Administration (DI.D.A.E.) of the Armed Forces,...

A nice article. That Byzantine student choir immediately brought a smile to my face, how it must have sounded in the chapel. And 100 years of school is a worthy number, congratulations to them.

I am glad to see that the students sang in the Byzantine choir during the Liturgy. 100 years for the school is indeed a significant anniversary, especially when it begins with prayer. It is interesting to know how often they sing in that military church.

Interesting that the choir was made up of students—this doesn't happen very often in military institutions. I also liked that they started with the Divine Liturgy instead of a parade. Did you hear how they sang, or are you just imagining it?
