Maroneia Panteleimon: "Saint Procopius inspires us for radical spiritual conversion"translated

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the day of the Feast of Saint Procopius the Great Martyr, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini officiated at the Holy Church of Saint Prophet Helios Pandrosos. In his speech, His Eminence referred to the life of Saint Prokopius who inspires us for a radical spiritual conversion, as he becomes our model for a continuous daily struggle for virtue and he wished the celebratory Vicar of the Holy Church, His Eminence Archimandrite Prokopios Baltzidis.

The part about St Procopius calling us to a “radical spiritual turn” really struck me — it’s not just a one-off conversion but that daily grind for virtue he lived. Fr Procopius must have been pleased to hear his patron saint held up like that on his name day. A good reminder for all of us.
