High Priestly Memorial in memory of the Great Benefactor of Kythira Nikolaos Triphyllistranslated

The Holy Metropolis of Kythira and Antikythira announces that on August 9, 2026, Sunday at 9:30 a.m., in the Holy Church of Panagia Ilariotissis - Potamos, a High Priestly Memorial Mass will be held, in memory of the Great Benefactor of the island, the late Nikolaos Triphyllis or Kavakos, as well as the other Benefactors. The Holy Memorial Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Metropolitan of Kythera and Antikythera Mr. Seraphim.

Nikolaos Triphyllis Nikolaos Triphyllis was one of the great benefactors of Kythera society. He was born in Trifyllianika of Kythira in 1873. The son of a very poor family, Triphyllis left Kythira as a child, to find some opportunity for a better life. He went to Piraeus and later to Athens, worked hard and persistently until in a very short time he managed to become a successful businessman.

The vision for Kythera Hospital

The great dream of Nikolaos Triphyllis was to have Kythera a complete and organized hospital. That's why in 1948 he drew up his will according to which he gave all his property, after his death, to the institution called "Triphyllion Hospital"....

Thanks for the article. I read that Nicolae Trifillis left the island as a child, worked hard in Piraeus and Athens and still left all his wealth to the hospital in Kythira in 1948.
