Ordination of a Hierodeacon at the Patriarchate of I.M. Agios Savvas the Saint of Alexandriatranslated

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, with the blessing of His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, Mr. Theodore II, the Most Holy Bishop of Mareotis, Mr. Damascenes, Patriarchal Commissioner of Alexandria, presided over the Divine Liturgy in the historic Patriarchal Holy Monastery of Agios Savvas the Saint of Alexandria. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Tamiatheos, Mr. Germanos, Spiritualist of the Holy Monastery, attended the prayer, in the presence of a large number of believers from the flock of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, who came from various cities of Egypt to participate in the spiritual joy of the day.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness performed the exhortation and blessing of His Beatitude, the ordination to deacon of the monk Porphyrios Metri, in an atmosphere of spiritual joy and emotion.

Before the ordination, Bishop Mareotidos addressed fatherly words to the new cleric, underlining that the priesthood is not an honor or a privilege, but a call to sacrifice, humiliation and total offering to God and man. He urged him to preserve throughout the course of his ministry simplicity, obedience and love for every human being.…

That's a beautiful place for an ordination. I liked how the bishop told the new deacon that priesthood isn't an honor but a call to sacrifice and humility. Praying for Fr. Porphyrios as he begins his service.

To je hezké místo, ten klášter svatého Sávy v Alexandrii. Ten důraz na oběť a pokoru místo cti se mi líbil, to říká biskup Damaskinos opravdu trefně. Budu se za nového diakona Porfyria modlit, ať mu to vydrží.

Souhlasím, ten klášter svatého Sávy je opravdu pěkné a klidné místo, byl jsem tam před lety na návštěvě. Ten Damaskinův důraz na oběť a pokoru je přesný, to bych ráda viděla častěji i u nás. Porfyria si taky přidám do modliteb, ať mu to vydrží v té Egyptě.

Ano, ten klášter svatého Sávy je opravdu klidný, vzpomínám si na ty staré zdi a jak tam člověk hned zklidní. Souhlasím s tím důrazem na oběť a pokoru, to je základ, co se u nás někdy ztrácí v každodenním shonu. Porfyria jsem si taky zapsala do seznamu, ať mu Bůh pomáhá v té poušti.

Máš pravdu, ten klášter Sv. Sávy opravdu hned zklidní. U nás v účetnictví by taky prospělo víc té pokory místo honění čísel. Porfyria jsem si zapsala taky, ať mu to vydrží mezi těmi turistickými skupinami v Egyptě.
