Thessaloniki: Hierarchical memorial service for the blessed Metropolitan Anthimostranslated

The Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, Mr. Philotheos, officiated on the evening of Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Gregorios of Palamas on the feast of Agios Anthimos, Bishop of Nikomidias, whose name was also borne by the blessed Metropolitan Mr. Anthimos, who pastored the local Church from 2004 until 2023. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Velestinos, Mr. Damaskinos, was present at the Holy Altar.

Before the dismissal, the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Mr. Philotheos preached the divine word, referring to the personality and work of the blessed Metropolitan.

Afterwards, the High Priestly Memorial Service was held with the participation of the co-celebrating clergy, the beloved spiritual child of the late Hierarch, Father Dimitrios Keskini from Alexandroupoli, and the reverent congregation.

May the memory of the venerable Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, Mr. Anthimos, be eternal and may we all have his wish!
