The festival of Panagia Pisidiotissa in Alanyatranslated

September 3, 2026 · 1 min read

The memory of Panagia Pisidiotissa was celebrated in Alanya with particular splendor and enthusiasm. On the eve of the holiday, Tuesday, September 2, 2026, the Great Solemn Vespers was held with a pastry, which was officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Pisidia, Mr. Iov.

On the day of the feast, Wednesday, September 3, 2026, the solemn Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Pisidia, Mr. Job, co-celebrants of the Theophilest Bishop Evdokiados, Mr. Ambrosios, the local clergy of the Metropolis, as well as clergy from abroad, in the presence of a large number of believers and pilgrims from Metropolis and abroad.

In his theological speech, His Holiness referred to the miraculous works of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the importance of her celebration for strengthening the faith and unity of the Orthodox in the region.

The student choir of the Christian Student Action of Thessaloniki and the choir of Antalya, who sang during the Divine Liturgy, gave particular brilliance to the celebration.

After the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, Trisagio was celebrated for the repose of the soul of the founder of the church, the late Metropolitan Sotiriou.

Yes, the Thessaloniki choir really brings a nice freshness to the services. I'm glad they also mentioned Metropolitan Sotirios at Tedeum, he was a hardworking man. What miracles of the Mother of God did Metropolitan Iov mention? It would be interesting to know for us as well, those from Constanța.

I agree, the student choir from Thessaloniki always sings in such a way that you immediately feel that they are singing not just notes, but from the heart. It would also be interesting to learn more about miracles, especially about those associated with Alanya. And for Bishop Sotirios the Trisagion - yes, it’s good that they don’t forget, I caught him at the very beginning, when the church was just being built.

Good that the choir from Thessaloniki came, their singing is really lively. I am sorry that they did not mention at least one miracle of Panagia Pisidiotissa that Metropolitan Job spoke about. And the Trisagio for Metropolitan Sotirius is beautiful, I remember how he built the church in Alanya.
