The annual memorial service of the mayors and benefactors of the Municipality of Paphos was heldtranslated

The established Annual Memorial Service of the deceased Mayors and Benefactors of the Municipality of Paphos was held on Friday, August 28, 2026 in the afternoon, at the Chapel of Agios Ioannis the Forerunner. The Metropolitan of Paphos, Mr. Grigorios, officiated at the Great Vespers with a feast, in the presence of the Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforos, members of the Municipal Council, representatives of the Police, as well as representatives of authorities, agencies and organizations of the city.

During the Mass, the deceased Mayors of Paphos Michael Christodoulidis, Solomon Markidis, Neophytos Nikolaidis, Nikolaos I. Nikolaidis, Christodoulos Galatopoulos, Iakovos Iakovides, Ioannis Agrotis and Andreas Ataliotis, as well as the deceased Benefactors Iakovos Anjoulatos, Dimitrios Constantinou, Maria Loizidou, Ivi H. Malliotou, Savvas Koupatos, Neophytos Nikolaidis, Nikolaos I. Nikolaidis, Christodoulos Petridis, Maroula Ioannidou, Artemis Pouroulis and Salomi Pouroulis.

In his sermon, on the occasion of the Feast of the Beheading of the Holy Forerunner, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Paphos referred to the timeless messages of truth, justice and repentance.

Sfinția Sa a vorbit frumos despre adevăr, dreptate și pocăință, legat de praznicul Sfântului Ioan. M-am rugat și eu pentru odihna primarilor și a binefăcătorilor pomeniți, mai ales pentru cei doi Nicolaizi care apar la ambele liste. O slujbă frumoasă la capela aceea mică.

Спокойна и скромна служба, както трябва. Интересно, че двамата Николаиди са и в двете списъци – явно са били и кметове, и големи дарители. Хубаво, че владиката свърза темата за истината и покаянието точно с празника на Предтечата.
