The feast of the Dormition Cathedral of New Philadelphiatranslated

Solemnly and with due splendor was celebrated the great Mother of God feast of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Immortal Mary in the solemn Holy Cathedral of the Dormition of N. Philadelphia. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalkidon Mr. Gavriel presided over Orthros and the High Priestly Divine Liturgy, flanked by clerics of the Holy Metropolis.

The Divine Liturgy was attended by Deputy Mayors, Members of the Municipal and Community Councils of the Municipality of N. Philadelphia-N. Chalkidonas, the President of EL.GA.A. Mr. Andreas Lykourentzos, representatives of refugee associations, city officials and a multitude of believers, who reverently came to the Holy Church to honor the face of the Mother of our Lord and to worship the Holy miraculous Icon of the Virgin of "Vourliotissa", which is kept in the Church.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence proceeded to ordain the vicar of the Holy Church, Elder Fr. Nikolaos Syriopoulos as Protopresbytero, recognizing his ministry in the Church until today.
