On this day, the Holy Church commemorates:

*The great among the martyrs, Panteleimon, and the blind man, July 2026, were healed. *Saint Antoussa, head of the Monastery of Monastery. *The righteous Saint Simon the New Stylite. *The 153 Thracian martyrs. *Our venerable father among Saints Clement Ochrida and those with him. *The righteous Saint Nicholas Kochanov, the venerable Russian. *Our venerable father, Saints Joasaph, Metropolitan of Moscow. *What is new about the Russian martyrs is Ambrosius Godko, Bishop of Sarapul.

✤ Commemoration of our venerable father in Saints Joasaph, Metropolitan of Moscow (+ 1555 AD) ✤

Of the nobility. He became a monk in the Monastery of Saint Sergius of Radonezh and became its abbot in 1529. Prince Basil Ioannovich had great respect for him, so he made him Metropolitan of Moscow in 1539 AD. His integrity made some boyars (local princes) envious of him. If they were unable to corrupt him, they moved the people against him. They wanted to kill him, but he ended up in one of the villages. In his last days, he was interested in reforming liturgical books. He rested in peace in the Monastery of the Holy Trinity on July 27, 1555 AD.

Ivana KostićAnother day when you remember that faith cost the lives of many. What moved me the most about Joasaf was that in the end, instead of arguing with the boyars, he simply went to the monastery and repaired the liturgical books. That's real working faith, not big talk. Thanks for reminding him today.
