The feast of Saints Dionysios and Mitrophanou in Fytia Imathiatranslated

On Thursday, July 9, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Berea, Naoussa and Campania Mr. Panteleimon officiated and preached the divine word in the celebrating Holy Church of Agios Athanasios and Saints Dionysios the Orator and Bishop in Fiteia Imathia. At the end, His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Panteleimon held a memorial service for the repose of the soul of his blessed elder, Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Mr. Panteleimon II, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of his death (July 9, 2003).

At the same time, on the occasion of the feast of Saints Dionysios and Mitrophanous, the Pastor Mr. Panteleimon did not forget to hold a memorial service for the repose of the souls of Nikiforos Archpriest, Dionysios and Mitrophanous of the Hieromonks and Avimelech, Spyridon and Panteleimon of the monks.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence ordained Fr. Antonios Dimos, vicar of the I. Church of Ag. γεωργίου Μακροχωρίου και σε πρωτοπρεσβύτερο τον π. Λουκά Πέκαλη εφημέριο της Φυτειάς.

His Excellency's Speech:

"Glorified by the invisible fire, come to the family of God-bearers, Dionysius, wise and holy Bishop."

Slavă lui Dumnezeu pentru această sărbătoare frumoasă din Fyteia. Mi-a rămas în minte pomenirea pe care a făcut-o Mitropolitul pentru bătrânul său duhovnic, Mitropolitul Tesalonicului Panteleimon al II-lea, la 23 de ani de la adormirea lui. O amintire frumoasă și duhovnicească.

The part that stayed with me too was the memorial for his old elder, Metropolitan Panteleimon II, exactly 23 years after his repose. It’s good to see a bishop still remembering his spiritual father like that after so many years. The ordinations at the end must have made it a joyful day for the parish.

Χαίρομαι που ο Μητροπολίτης Παντελεήμων δεν ξέχασε τον γέροντά του, τον Μητροπολίτη Θεσσαλονίκης Παντελεήμονα Β΄, και έκανε μνημόσυνο ακριβώς 23 χρόνια μετά την κοίμησή του. Yes, linking his late elder Metropolitan Panteleimon II’s memorial right on the saints’ feast day made the whole service feel like one continuous chain. I especially appreciated that he also remembered the Mikragiannanites—Nikephoros the hierarch, the hieromonks, and those monks—because their lives were so intertwined with Sts.
