"Theomitorika 2026": Holy Vigil for the performance of the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin in Hydratranslated

"Theomitorika 2026" continues in Hydra, taking place with a focus on the Holy Cathedral of the Dormition of the Virgin. On Saturday, August 22, 2026, according to the program, the Holy Vigil will be held on the occasion of the Feast of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as "Nine days".

The Great High Priestly Vespers will begin at 7:30 p.m., officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina Mr. Ephraim, with the participation of all the fathers.

The procession of the miraculous Holy Icons of Panagia "Faneromeni" and Panagia "Maliki" will follow.

Afterwards, the Liti and the Artoklasia will be celebrated, while a speech by His Eminence will follow.

The Holy Vigil will then begin, which is expected to conclude at approximately 1:15 am.

The hymns will be performed by the Byzantine Dance "Antiphoniko Melos", under the direction of Mr. Georgios Kamariaris. At the same time, the Radio Station of the Piraeus Church will broadcast live the Holy Vigil.

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, due to the Vigil, there will not be a second Divine Liturgy in the morning.

It's nice that they are preparing for the Enniamera ones in Hydra like this. That evening's great archieratic vesper with the litany of both miraculous icons of the Virgin Mary and then the all-night vigil until one in the morning looks really dignified. It's a shame that there won't be a second liturgy on Sunday morning, but at least one knows what to prepare for.
