The Ambassador of Japan to Greece visited Mount Athostranslated

From July 17 to 18, the Ambassador of Japan to Greece, Mr. Ito, paid a visit to the Monastic State of Mount Athos, following the invitation of the Member of Parliament for Kavala and member of the Greece-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group, Mr. Yiannis Paschalidis. During his stay, the Ambassador visited the Holy Temple of Protatus in Karyes, the administrative center of Mount Athos. Afterwards, he went to the Holy Monastery of Iberon, where he met with the Japanese monk Timotheos, who informed him about the monastic life on Mount Athos and the Orthodox spiritual tradition.
Subsequently, the Ambassador was hosted at the Holy Monastery of Philotheou, where he had a cordial meeting with the Monastery's Professor. During their discussion, they exchanged views on matters of spirituality and tradition, contributing to the further deepening of mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and Mount Athos, based on mutual respect for their special cultural and spiritual traditions.
