The Patriarch of Alexandria with the Archbishop of Crete at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Minastranslated

On Friday, July 10, 2026, His Beatitude Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Mr. Theodoros visited the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Minas in Heraklion, accompanied by the Most Reverend Archbishop of Crete Mr. Eugene.

During his visit, His Holiness informed His Beatitude about the progress of the renovation and restoration works of the Holy Metropolitan Church. The Patriarch expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the work and congratulated those who contribute to the protection and promotion of this historic church.

Afterwards, His Beatitude visited the Old Holy Church of Agios Minas, where he performed a memorial prayer for the repose of the soul of his blessed predecessor, Patriarch of Alexandria Mr. Nicholas VI, on the occasion of the completion of forty years since his death. At the same time, he referred with respect to the contribution and work of the blessed Patriarch, emphasizing his significant contribution to the progress of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

Afterwards, His Beatitude went to the Palace of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete, where he had a meeting with the Most Reverend Archbishop of Crete.

It is good that the Patriarch personally went to see how the renovation of the "St. Mina" church is going. I remember years ago we were there on pilgrimage and the church looked quite worn. God rest Patriarch Nicholas VI, forty years have passed, and his work is still remembered.
