Kydonias Titos: "The soul of Pontians and Cretans is one soul"translated
The Consecration for the opening of the new premises of the Pontian Chania Association "Argonautes", was performed on the afternoon of Wednesday September 9, 2026 by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronou, Mr. Titos, in the presence of the Mayor of Chania, Mr. Panagiotis Simandirakis, members and friends of the Association and a large crowd. After the Consecration sequence, His Eminence expressed his joy and emotion for the creation of a space, which, as he characteristically mentioned, will now be "the residence of Pontic Hellenism" in Chania.
In his speech, he referred to the decisive contribution of the Asia Minor and the Pontians in Greece's latest development after the Asia Minor Catastrophe, highlighting their valuable contribution to the economy, society, letters and culture of our homeland.
He made a special mention of the initiator of the creation of the Association, Mr. Thomas Kyriakidis, whom he congratulated for his many years of contribution and initiatives for the preservation and promotion of the Pontic spirit in Chania.
