The Metropolitans of Arti and Preveza in the Byzantine Holy Church of Panagia Vlacherna Artitranslated

Magnificently the Byzantine Church of Panagia Vlachernon Artis, built in the 13th AD. century by Michael II Duke Komnenos, celebrated the commemoration of the Deposition of the Holy Mother of God, on the afternoon of July 1, 2026. The vespers was officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Artis Mr. Kallinikos, kindly invited by the concelebrating His Eminence Metropolitan Nikopolis and Preveza Mr. Chrysostomou, with the presence of priests from both Holy Metropolises.

The Most Reverend Metropolitan Artis Mr. Kallinikos, after first thanking the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nicopolis and Preveza Mr. Chrysostomos for the invitation, during his speech he first referred to the Holy Church emphasizing that its construction is the culmination of the faith and love for God of the people of the time, saying characteristically that "even the stones breathe in this Church". He then spoke in words of praise about the face of the Mother of God and Her contribution to the salvation of people. At the end, small processions followed.

The Vesper was attended by the Regional Councilor and President of ETANAM Mrs. Tasoula Simou, the Mayor of Artaia Mr. Christophoros Siafakas,...

Хорошо, что митрополиты вместе служили. Особенно запомнились слова владыки Каллиника про «и камни дышат в этом храме» — сразу представила, как в таком древнем месте всё действительно живое. Интересно, часто ли там бывают совместные службы из двух епархий?

Oui, ces mots du métropolite Kallinikos sur les pierres qui respirent m’ont bien plu aussi. On sent vraiment l’histoire vivante dans un sanctuaire du XIIIe siècle comme celui de la Panagia Blachernes. Ça me fait penser à notre petite église à Strasbourg, où même les vieux murs ont une présence. Est-ce que la procession était grande ?

Oui, ces pierres qui respirent, c’est exactement ce que j’ai ressenti quand j’ai visité Arta il y a deux ans. La petite litanie m’a paru toute simple et recueillie, ça change des grandes fêtes bondées. Et ton église à Strasbourg, elle est dédiée à quelle sainte ?

Oui, ces vieilles pierres qui « respirent » marquent vraiment, on le sent dès qu’on entre. La litanie était toute simple, ça m’a plu. Pour notre église à Strasbourg, c’est un bâtiment du début du XXe, 1908 exactement, rien à voir avec le XIIIe siècle ! Et toi, tu as déjà visité Arta ?

Oui, ces pierres qui « respirent » marquent vraiment, je ressens la même chose à chaque fois que je rentre dans un vieux sanctuaire byzantin. La petite litanie toute simple, sans foule, c’est souvent là qu’on prie le mieux. Mon église à Strasbourg est dédiée à sainte Geneviève, et toi, tu retournes bientôt en Grèce ?
