The Synagogue of the Most Holy Theotokos of Gorgoipikou in Kalamariatranslated

On the first Sunday of October, in the Holy Cathedral of Agios Nikolaos Aretsous-Derka, the Synaxis of the holy Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos of Gorgoipikou was celebrated with splendor. In the Church is kept a faithful copy of the miraculous holy Icon of Panagia Gorgoipikou, which was painted in the Holy Monastery of Dochiario on Mount Athos, at the expense of the pious family of the parish and was transferred from the Monastery of Dochiario to Kalamaria for the blessing of the faithful people of the parish.

At the solemn Vespers on Saturday, the familiar Pastor, Metropolitan of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, Mr. Ioustinos, officiated with the Priests-in charge of the catechetical Schools of the parishes- and the Deacons.

All the catechists and catechists of the Holy Metropolis attended Vespers, since by decision of the Reverend Pastor, this day marks the beginning of the Catechetic activities of the Metropolis.

In his sermon, the Reverend Mr. Ioustinos referred to the title of the Virgin, as Gorgoipikou, and by analyzing it he demonstrated that it indicates the obedience of the Virgin to the prayers of people and not only her ability to obey their prayers.
