Indescribable emotion for the torpedoing of Elli, in Tinostranslated

There are certain coincidences in every corner of our Greece, endowed with nature, history and culture, which with their historical dynamism and moral burden, are indelibly etched in your consciousness and mark you forever!

And these feelings of moral awe and unspeakable conscience, I felt when I visited our holy island of Tinos, to pray to our Magalohari Panagia, mother of Hellenism, who with her loving wings, saved the nation in its historical journey and "free from all dangers"!

So in historical Tinos a few days ago in the heart of August 2026, as I was heading from the jetty towards the center of the city, I saw a modest sign saying in capital letters "HELLI"! And immediately realizing where I was, I burst into tears... It was at the point in the island's harbor, that on August 15, 1940, on the day of the Feast of Magalocharis - "Assumption of the Virgin" with hundreds of Greeks, who had flocked to the island, to worship the Virgin Mary, the Italian submarine "Delfino", in an unprovoked and cowardly way, struck, torpedoed the our cruiser "Elli". I've never visited Tinos, but this little "ΈΛΛΗ" sign at the port got me thinking. The fact that it happened on the same day as the Feast of the Virgin, with all these pilgrims on the island, makes the attack even more chilling. Thank you for this precise reminder, it touches more than big speeches.
