The Holy Provincial Synod of the Church of Crete on the side of the fire victims with prayer and practical supporttranslated

The Holy Provincial Synod of the Church of Crete expresses its deep sorrow for the devastating fires that hit Rethymnon and other areas of the country, with special reference to the human victims. In a statement, she notes that she participates "with deep pain and sadness" in the pain of those affected and prays for the repose of the five victims of the tragedy. At the same time, she expresses her deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and expresses her undivided support and love to all those affected by the fiery blaze, underlining that in the face of this great tragedy "we all stand together with pain of soul and mutual sympathy", while she prays that God bestows strength and courage on everyone.

The Holy Synod thanks and congratulates the staff of the Fire Service, the volunteers and all those who participate in dealing with the fires, recognizing their valuable contribution in these difficult conditions.

At the same time, he announces that the Church of Crete "will undertake, in the next period, appropriate initiatives, for the material and spiritual support and essential assistance of those affected, through the Holy Diocese of Lampi, Syvritos and...

Let us also pray for the repose of the five souls and help as we can through the Metropolis of Lamba, Syvritos and Sfakia. I thank the Synod for not just talking, but preparing concrete deeds for the people who have been left without homes. May God give strength to the firefighters and volunteers, because they work day and night.
