A unique festival, among the dozens that take place every summer on the islands of the Dodecanese and throughout the country, is that of Agios Soulas, or Agios Silas. It is not just a religious festival that culminates on July 30. Gregory MorrisThe part about St. Silas turning a pagan altar spot into the first recorded Christian miracle on Rhodes really stuck with me. Sounds like the huts and the whole little village that pops up in the pine forest every summer keep that old spirit going strong. Makes me wonder what the cooking is like during those July 30 feasts.
