The Metropolitan of Kydonia at the celebratory Holy Church of Agia Maria Magdaleni Halepatranslated

With ecclesiastical splendor and the participation of a large number of believers, the memory of Saint Mary Magdalene was celebrated in the historic Holy Church of Saint Mary Magdalene of Halepa, in Chania. The solemn Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronou, Mr. Titos, flanked by clerics of the Holy Metropolis, while a large number of devout Christians were present, who came to honor the great Myrobearer and first preacher of the Lord's Resurrection.

The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, one of the most recognizable monuments of Aleppo, was built at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of Prince George and his wife, Princess Mary, in honor of Saint Mary Magdalene. Its special architecture, with strong Russian elements, is a point of reference for the historical quarter of Halepa and is connected to important moments in the modern history of Crete.

Νίκος ΑναγνώστουThe speech of Metropolitan Titus who clarified the issue with Saint Mary Magdalene is good, because many still confuse her with the sinner. The little church in Halepa with the Russian elements is one of my favourites, I pass by there in the truck and always make my cross. Happy birthday to all Chanians.
