Reception of the Holy Icon and Relics of the Holy Forty Martyrstranslated

On Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 6:45 p.m., at the entrance of the Holy Transfiguration Monastery of Sotiros Prasinada, Paranesti, Drama, there will be the reception of the miraculous icon and the holy relics of the Holy Forty Martyrs, martyred in the lake of Sebastia. Daily morning services will be held at 7:00 am. and in the afternoon at 7:00 p.m., from Monday August 3 until Monday August 10 whenever the miraculous icon and the holy relics depart.

During the pilgrimage and for the convenience of the pious pilgrims, the Holy Transfiguration Monastery of Sotiros will remain open from sunrise to sunset.

Xenia WilsonThe times are handy, seven in the morning and seven at night. I remember reading about those forty soldiers standing on the frozen lake at Sebaste – it always makes me think twice when it’s cold out. Hope the monastery isn’t too crowded on the weekend.
