The Metropolitan of Dryinoupolis, Pogoniani and Konitsa, Mr. Alexios, asked institutions and citizens to use the historical title of the Metropolis

The occasion to recall on the one hand a historical reality and on the other hand to declare a strong disposition of public intervention in matters not only of the theological and religious Normative framework, but also in matters of historical memory and approach, was taken advantage of by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Dryinoupolis, Pogoniani and Konitsa Mr. Alexios on Friday morning from the martyred Kerasovo Pogoni.

The occasion was given during the commemoration of the Holocaust of the village with the 28 victims of the Nazi atrocity on August 15, 1944, when speakers pointed out the historical truth of the violent and unjust separation of the Pogoni District, with many villages passing "inside" Pogoni, within Albanian territory. However, the Metropolitan Mr. Alexios also took as an occasion discussions as well as writings in the press where the Metropolis is sometimes referred to as Konitsis or as Pogonianis, but rarely with its real name. Правильно делает владыка Алексей. Исторический титул «Дриинупольский» надо возвращать, а то в газетах то Конitsa, то Погониани пишут, а главное название будто забыли. В Керасово в тот день тоже хорошо, что напомнили про разделение Погони и про 28 мучеников 1944 года.
