Giannitsa: Theological educator and father of two children, the new deacon, Father Emmanuel Spanostranslated

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Reverend Metropolitan of Edessa, Pelli and Almopia, Mr. Ioel, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and the Deacon ordination of Mr. Emmanuel Spanos, Theological educator, in the holy parish church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul of Giannitsa. The Most Holy Bishop of Almopia, Mr. Stefanos, the Protosygello of the I. Metropolis, Archimandrite Maximos Hatzis, and other clerics collaborated with His Eminence. The divine speech was preached by His Holiness Archimandrite Michael Santorini, Preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki and spiritual father of the ordained, interpreting the Gospel passage of the miraculous fishing and connecting the disciples' obedience to Christ with the Deacon's obedience to the Bishop and the Church as well as the self-denial needed in order to be united with Christ.

In his speech, the ordained person expressed his sense of unworthiness for entering the high function of the priesthood, stressing that his motivation for this decision is gratitude for the benefits of Christ in his life.
