The volunteer Samaritans - Rescuers of the E.E.S. have been installed since Saturday (4/7) in earthquake-stricken La Guevara, Venezuela, and are supporting the difficult work of volunteers and staff of the Venezuelan Red Cross to assist the 16,500 injured in the devastating double earthquake, as well as the more than 16,000 displaced citizens.

The volunteers of the E.E.S. they reinforce the health staff of the Mobile Hospitals that have been set up in La Gueira and at the same time, with the help of a Spanish-speaking volunteer Samaritan - Rescuer, they offer psychosocial support and support as well as basic necessities to the residents who live by the thousands in tents, looking for the necessities to survive every day, while even drinking water tends to disappear in the makeshift camps.

The echelon of the EES was welcomed by a senior official of the Venezuelan government, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oliver Blanco, who expressed his warm thanks to the volunteers of the Hellenic Red Cross for the valuable help they offer, recognizing their great humanitarian work and practical solidarity.

It's good they brought the Spanish-speaking Samaritan volunteer — with 16,500 injured and thousands living in tents where even drinking water is running out, that extra help with medical care and just talking to people must make a real difference. Glad the Venezuelan deputy foreign minister came by to thank them in person.

Yeah, that Spanish-speaking volunteer is a smart addition — must help a lot when you're trying to comfort folks in tents who just lost everything. The water shortage sounds especially rough; hope they get supplies in quick.

That Spanish-speaking Samaritan really bridges the gap — I read they’re already helping translate medical instructions at the mobile clinics too. The water situation worries me most; last big quake I followed, it was the contaminated supplies that caused the secondary health crisis.
