Philotheos of Thessaloniki at the Camp of the Orthodox Missionary Association "Megas Basilios"translated

On the afternoon of Saturday, July 18, His Holiness the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, Mr. Philotheos, visited the Camps of the Orthodox Missionary Association "Megas Basilios" in Kalandra, Halkidiki. Our Bishop was welcomed by the priest in charge, Father Michael Santorinios, Preacher of the Metropolis, the executives and the campers. Then His Holiness went to the Holy Chapel of the camp, where the campers sang hymns and hymns in honor of the Saints of our Church. On behalf of the executives and the campers, the Metropolitan Mr. Philotheos was addressed by Father Michael. In his rebuttal, His Holiness thanked everyone for the warm welcome extended to him and then referred to the divine face of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Immediately after, Metropolitan Mr. Philotheos went to the camp's auditorium, where he discussed interesting topics with the campers. The central theme of the discussion was the honest face of the Most Holy Theotokos, as this year's camping season is entitled "Rejoice, Sky of the World" and is dedicated to the completion of 1,400 years since the chanting of the Akathistos Hymn.

Sounds like the kids gave him a warm welcome with those hymns in the chapel. The talk on the Theotokos must have been special, especially with the camp theme tied to the Akathist’s 1400 years. Nice to see our Metropolitan spending the afternoon with them in Kalandra.
