On the occasion of the start of the new school year 2026-2027, His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Hieronymos addresses a fatherly message to students and teachers, highlighting the essential role of education in shaping character, but also the importance of love, solidarity, cooperation and responsibility. Well said Archbishop. I especially liked what he says to the little ones: "Ὅλη τήν έρδανα νά εἴμάστε ἑνωμένοι καί ἀγαπημένοι". In my time in Prilep, that's exactly how we were taught in elementary school - not to leave anyone alone on vacation. God grant that even now the children will obey him.

Well said the Archbishop. That exact phrase for the little ones remained in my mind, "Ὅλη τήν έρδανα νά εἴmaste ἑνωμένοι καί ἀγαπημένοι", and I remembered how at our school in Copou, the teacher made us sit two by two during recreation so that no child would be left alone. May God grant that the children remember this now, as they begin the year.
